The famous slogan “just do it” by Nike couldn’t be any more correct. Sometimes the hardest decisions of the day just require that push. Just do it, get up and get going. There are so many distractions out there, such as Facebook, TV and other platforms to tempt us away from getting out and being active. So don’t blame yourself or anyone around you. Perhaps things have gone off track, but there is no better time than now, set your mind to something and simply do it.
There is no real regret after a workout. No matter the effort levels, you will not find yourself saying “darn, I wish I had sat on the couch and watched TV instead”. We all know that feeling of getting to the end of the day after delaying that swim, run, gym or Yoga class, and realizing now it is too late. The promise is that just by doing more, you will feel so much better. No more regrets, the importance is to get up and do it.
Blast Off – A Technique to trick your body into moving.
There is a fun technique which helps to remove the doubt about doing something. It can be applied to get your body and brain into action. Simply count backwards from 5.
5-4-3-2-1 –Go!
By counting backwards we are tricking the brain into jumping into the activity. Like a Rocket lifting off, the countdown ends at a point of action. Try it out. Count down from 5, see if it makes you get off your butt and do whatever it is you plan do to at the end of the countdown. Just like Nike, you will “just do it”.
Have you been wanting to try out an Olympic class like The Arena? 5-4-3-2-1-GO.
Have you been putting off jumping into the pool and swimming laps? 5-4-3-2-1-GO.
Have you been putting off signing up for the Summer Fit Programme? 5-4-3-2-1- GO.
It really is as simple as “just do it”.
