We are delighted to bring you an update regarding The Olympic’s future.

As a lot of you know, we have been working with the Auckland Council and Waitemata local board to find a resolution to the lease of The Olympic Pool.

As of Tuesday the 24th September, the Waitemata local board voted to support a 10 year lease proposal to the current management OPFL. The current management have been in operation for over 30 years, and it signifies an exciting direction in the future of the company.

The late great John Fay (director), had envisioned a long term lease to action investment into capital developments of the facility. Peter Rust (director) continues that direction, with an actuation of those plans. Beginning as soon as we can, The Olympic will look to meet its community requirements, along with the exciting upgrades to the centre.

We could not have done this without our amazing community of members and supporters. Not only is the future secure for the business, but that means the security of the amazing staff, personal trainers, fitness instructors, learn to swim coaches, cleaners, Aqua Cafe…and so many more important personnel.

Our next step is to make sure we celebrate this as a community.

More to come, but again, thank you all so much.
